If season four of the series had continued, the Quintessons would have been seen teaming up with the head of Unicron, combining their efforts against the Transformers.

The mistake was making the movie take place in the future. The cool thing about Transformers is that the toys used to be based on current day vehicles. They couldve milked that forever.

Season 4 is the most notorious because it's only purpose more than previous seasons was to sell toys..that's why so many new characters and names are mentioned. Originally Rebirth was gonna be a five-parter ,but due to budget cuts, it was reduced to only three.
